I found my 6 to be freer blowing than the much larger bored Opera but I may have had a bad one. I was blowing an Olds Opera for four years before getting my Burbank 6. I have to get over there and check out his Burbank 8. I just wished I had had a chance to play on your Williams bass trumpet. You had a couple of 6's that were also fantastic. Just a great sounding horn with that big old bell. it plays substantially purer than my Burbank 9. dark compact sound like a Williams but it didn't really make you work overtly hard. I think the horn that most spoke to me was one of the Williams 4s. Wow, you have an amazing collection of horns and a number of bona fide collector's items. And insofar as how they play relative to Kings, Bachs, Kanstuls, Shires, Conns, Yamahas, again, personal choice. I've played horns from all those manufacturing sites that were fine horns. There are good Williams horns and bad ones but you'd expect that from any hand crafted horn since no two horns are identical. next time I'm in Hawaii 'kay?Īnd to the few folks who have posted queries about whether Williams from LA, Burbank, Tennessee, Tulsa play better/differently from one another, I think this largely depends on your own taste and preferences. hearing and seeing someone play like that in person is just mind-boggling and life changing lol! hopefully he chimes in a little later with some reviews!ĭrew, I'm blushing.
